III. Dive

The school day passed by slowly. There wasn't much to do as a senior during the final week of school. His parents were really excited about him graduating. Neither of his parents graduated high school. That was true for most his older relatives. Work came before school, because food came before anything. His generation, for the most part, were all making it to their high school graduation. Another weight and excitement was placed in him. Out of all of them, he would be the first to go to college. His family couldn't afford it on their own. Juan did his best to get any scholarship he could, but he still would have to take out loans in addition to that. His parents told him it was alright. They'd all find a way to pay it back together. They told him to keep aiming higher. His parents never had much money for anything, but he was glad to be born into their family. There were some situations where his older relatives lagged behind in what was proper care out of the shame they grew up with, like the situation with his cousin's eating disorder. For most things, he could rely on all of them for help. The way he saw some people treat the children in their care, like Eric and Nathan's respective guardians, baffled him. He couldn't comprehend taking in a child, one who needs care and protection to thrive, only to inflict cruelty on them. Juan didn't know which set of guardians angered him more. Eric's parents were well off and had plenty of money to take care of their son, and yet, they neglected and at the least of what he knew, verbally abused their son whenever they could. Nathan's guardian's were being paid to care for him, and neglected him anyway. He wondered how much his friend had gotten to eat growing up. Now, as they were all about to set foot into the world of adults full time, he couldn't help but think about how neither of those neglectful parents would be offering anything for that transition. Typical, he thought, that one who does so little would cut off their meager support the first moment they could be morally excused from it. He imagined Eric would be waving at Alex's parents at his college graduation as well. The thought of that saddened him, but he quickly found hope in it. If not his biological parents, Eric could be taken in by a new, better set in Alex's. Juan was amused before about his friends being into each other, but now he actively wanted them to get together, if for that hope alone. During lunch, he watched the way the two of them occupied each other's space. At a distance too close to be anything other than intimate comfort and far enough apart to keep it contained under friendship, their movements made their real desires obvious to any with close inspection. The way they looked at each other, he was a little jealous. No girl he ever dated looked at him quite like that. His own girlfriend was currently missing in the cafeteria. He saw her in the hall earlier a few times, and as before, she dissipated like mist through the forest of anxious teenagers and disgruntled teachers. When the school day ended, he searched for her again only to catch the back of her car speeding away from him. As he got in Nathan's car, he sent out a text he knew wouldn't be answered. At home, Juan looked over the ghost hunting footage again to distract himself from Maria. He didn't find anything new. Juan texted Alex to make sure everything was still on for the weekend. At lunch, they had decided on Saturday night. Alex texted him back that it was, then sent him a list of movies and TV series he was thinking about possibly watching to ask for help in deciding. Juan gave his suggestions, then teased Alex for a while. He texted him. "How's it going with Eric? Did you cuddle all night long?" Alex responded thirty seconds later. The text read "damn right I did", with a goofy selfie sent right after it. Juan laughed. He texted Alex for a while, mostly talking about Eric and joking about conspiracy theories neither believed. The conversation ended when Alex went to eat dinner. Juan joined Nathan on the couch to look for something to watch. "Talking to Maria?" Nathan asked. "No. Haven't gotten a text from her all week." Juan flipped through channels. "It was Alex." "Oh, really. What's he up to?" "Trynna get in Eric's pants." Juan couldn't finish what he was saying without laughing. Nathan chuckled. "How's that going?" "It's not, unless you consider more intense cuddling to be progress." "That's adorable." Nathan grinned and laughed again. Juan settled on the news again. One of the anchors finished up a report on a missing person, then transitioned to the next topic. The woman, expressionless and empty in tone, spoke directly at the camera. "Mental health, it's a topic that for many years was taboo to speak about openly. Georgia's own history with the care and treatment of the mentally ill is one rife with horror and shame. The monstrous, prison-like state hospitals of old have all but one long shut down in an effort to bring Georgia into the modern world. Now, rather than suffering isolation and abuse in an uncaring, cold facility, mental health treatment has taken a new form. A caring, gentle one, and it's taking place not in the asylums of old, but in neighborhoods and community centers." The news transitioned from the anchor sitting at a desk to a prerecorded video of various people sitting around on a back porch. The anchor narrated the transition. "Locals recall the horrid abuse at the state run hospitals. Horror stories of neglect, mistreatment, and cruelty. But those memories are fading." The video shifted to people inside a hospital. "Since Georgia began closing the doors on its outdated state mental hospitals, new places of treatment have cropped up across the state. These facilities have opened up with a new focus, serving the community...all members of the community. Rather than shuttling people hours across from society, they find ways to help those in need reintegrate and manage within their local area. Rehab, group therapy, and job training are part of the many options available at these city centers and small, privately run hospitals. For those with more serious needs, longer stays are available, up to three months at a time at some facilities and longer term hospital stays for the most severe cases, but the emphasis remains on getting people out and back into their neighborhoods and workplaces." The camera now focused on the anchorwoman walking down the hallway of a hospital. "I'm here at one of those private hospitals. Moone & Wolfe has been in the business of caring for the mentally ill and involved in psychiatric and psychological research for decades. In the new world of patient care, the company has flourished and now serves most areas of the state. I'm here today with the head of the company and long time psychiatric researcher, Dr. Edith Summerfield, who recently took over the company from her equally accomplished brother, Dr. Thomas Summerfield." Juan's stomach turned at hearing the company's name. Unconsciously, he clutched tightly to the arm of the couch. The camera shifted to a young-looking woman with short hair wearing a black dress and a white coat. Her appearance was too polished to be believed. She gave the camera a tiny smile. The video cut to the newswoman and Dr. Summerfield sitting across from each other at a desk. The newswoman asked, "Dr. Summerfield, what has it been like, having been in this business as long as you have, to witness the social shift that's taken place over the last few decades?" Dr. Summerfield smiled slightly again, but her words came out devoid of emotion. "Oh, it has been amazing to me. People really don't understand how rapid this change has happened. As research marched on, that didn't always translate into action being taken at hospitals. We have always strived to work from the most up to date research available, and we ourselves have been working hard to contribute to that growing body of data." "Your father, Dr. Alexander Summerfield, made great stride in the research in the care of adolescent patients. That focus has still remained in many of the research labs your company runs. Is that correct?" The newswoman asked. "Yes. We have always had more of a focus on children and teens, because they are the most vulnerable of us all and need different care than adults do. It's a delicate process to research that, as the utmost of ethics must be adhered to when dealing with minors, but the research must be done for the betterment of children worldwide. One of our first mental hospitals was opened up specifically to care for adolescents with severe behavioral issues." Dr. Summerfield avoided making eye contact with the camera. "The work you're doing here is changing so many lives. I hear that one of the drugs your company has been tested for years will soon be available for prescription. How do you feel about that?" She asked. "I'm so overwhelmed by it. There are people out there who will do anything to push a drug through to rake in as much profit off of it as they can. We didn't set out to make a profit. Our mission has always been about helping the most vulnerable of people. We spent so many years testing and retesting Aequa until we finally, consistently, got the results we were aiming for. The drug is expected to be available next month and is completely safe for both teens and adults. We're all very excited here. I hope that our years of research will be able to save many more lives. The more options a patient has, the more likely they will find a solution that works for them." The video shifted back to the newswoman walking in the hospital hallway. "Hospitals like this can now be found throughout the state, helping those with depression, anxiety, drug addiction...get the help they deserve." The video then changed back to the people sitting around in the hospital. An elderly woman spoke to the camera. "They've changed my life. If it weren't for places like this, I'd be dead right now." Another woman came on screen, appearing to be around thirty. "It's a blessing. It really is. My mama always told me she'd put me in one of those horrible state hospitals if I acted up too much. A lot of parents made threats like that when I was young. I never thought I'd ever be in a psychiatrist's office myself, but now I can work again. I thank God every day for helping me get in here and change myself." The prerecorded video ended and shifted back to the newsroom. The anchor said, "After our interview, Dr. Summerfield was generous enough to provide us with a discount offer for our viewers. For a ten percent discount on any services, go to our website and print out the coupon. This coupon is valid for one year. A coupon for Aequa can be found on the same page, for twenty percent off and reusable up to six times. Aequa is set to be available mid-June. A list of other private mental health hospitals and local low cost health centers in Georgia can also be accessed from our website." Nathan was so annoyed with the ad disguised as news that his eyes hurt from rolling them. "I bet that 'low cost' isn't all that low. Wonder what they do with people who've got nowhere to go back home to or when someone runs out of money." Juan wasn't listening to Nathan. His mind was elsewhere, recalling memories from a very long time ago. "Juan? Are you in there?" Nathan waved his hand in front of Juan's face. Juan blinked. "Huh? Sorry. I just remembered something weird." "Weird? Aliens weird or regular weird?" Nathan asked. "Uh...I don't know." Juan couldn't answer because he didn't know how to classify the experience itself. "It's about that company that was just on the news, Moone & Wolfe." "Do you know some shady medical shit about them?" Nathan asked. "No, well, what I thought of wasn't, but I have heard they do shady medical stuff too." Juan took a deep breath. "Did I ever tell you about Steven Morales?" "I don't think so. Is this some kind of urban legend?" Nathan asked. "No, Steven was a guy I knew in elementary school." Juan said. "Did you ever watch any local channels when you were a kid?" "Like PBS?" "No, think more along the lines of what low budget commercials at the local movie theater look like. You know, back when they showed those before they were bought out by some shit company with shit nachos." Juan could hear the phrase "we love you and we need you" in his head as soon as he uttered the words "local movie theater" some of the old low budget commercials were so ingrained in his head. "Oh...no. I don't think I watched anything that level of...quality when I was a kid. What's this got to do with this Steven kid?" Nathan asked. "A long time ago, there used to be a local broadcasting channel that he would watch all the time for this one kid show owned by that company. It was called Delilah's Daily Dose. He became obsessed with her." Juan recalled her appearance. Her age was indeterminable. She simultaneously looked like an adult woman and a girl. Her hair was dark, and she dressed in a childish dress that would be more appropriate for a porcelain doll than an actress in a children's show. Her voice was sweeter than honey and as bitter as unripened blackberries. The TV show was in black and white, but clearly filmed with modern cameras. The show didn't appear to feature any real children. Each episode, the hostess was joined by animal-shaped robots, the creepiest two being a giant giraffe and a tiny bear, designed to look like a ragged teddy bear. "One day, I was watching the show with him and this is really weird...the lady in the show started talking to us." "What?" Nathan stared at him strangely. "Yeah I know, weird. He told me it would happen though. I didn't believe him either, but I set up some cameras to record us watching it that my cousin got from dumpster diving. And she really did start talking to us, at three in the morning like he said she would. Then this guy showed up and took Steven away. After that day, no one knew who Steven was. Only me. His parents told me they didn't have a son named Steven. I thought I was going insane. When I checked the recording, there was nothing on it. Nothing recorded at all." Juan said. That event was one of the reasons why he became so open to strange ideas and supernatural concepts, though he was already more interested in that sort of thing and more suspicious than most around him. He had no explanation for what happened that day, or why to this day, no one could see that boy's face in any picture he showed them. He remembered Steven leaving with that strange man. He saw the man's face clearly, but it always faded in his mind when he recalled the man. The name stuck. He couldn't forget the man's name. When all that happened, he was labeled very quickly by his classmates and teachers as insane. His relatives didn't think he was crazy, but they assumed he was making it up for attention or to scare everyone for a laugh. "How do you know that was real?" Nathan asked. "He's in my yearbooks, but when I show them to people who have met him, no one can see him. The only people who can see him in the photos are people who haven't met him." Juan explained. He'd shown his other friends the pictures of Steven recently, but none of them believed his story. Alex called the whole thing "bullshit". Nathan rubbed his chin. "I'm not trying to be rude, but is it possible you might have schizophrenia?" "I don't have it." Juan said. "Have you ever seen a doctor about this?" He asked. "My parents could never afford a psychiatrist. But I don't have it." This wasn't the first time someone told him that. A few of his teachers suggested he be mentally evaluated, and one outright stated he must have schizophrenia. The rest of them called him a liar. He stopped caring about being called either. "Hmm...I don't know. I'm not a doctor. Guess it's not my place to judge. Weird shit happens all the time that people can't explain, and I wasn't there." Nathan said. "But it's not like I'd think any differently about you if you did have it." "Yeah, I know you wouldn't. But I'm positive this was real. It's not like I hallucinated this guy. I have too many memories of Steven for this to have been some kind of delusion my mind created. It'd be easier for me to pretend it wasn't real. Thinking about that day...I don't know what that was..." "From my experience, the best way to deal with things that are dark and disturbing is to ignore them. If you think about that kind of stuff too much, it'll eat you alive and destroy you. At least, that's how I manage." Nathan told him. "Actually, I'm not the only one who thinks there was something weird going on with that show. There's some things I could show you, but it's been a while since I looked into it. Like you said...the more you think about it, the more it destroys you. But maybe you'll believe me about it being real if we look into it." Juan looked over at his computer. He got up and turned it back on. "What are you doing?" Nathan followed him over to his desk. Juan didn't get online the way he normally did. "You can't find everything with Google. Really, you can't find much of anything with Google, if you think about it." "What does that mean?" Nathan asked. "Most of what exists is not easily searchable. The average person only visits a very small portion of sites available online." Juan went to a specific forum as he explained what he meant to Nathan. "Think of what most people do online involving the very tiniest top tip of a giant iceberg. I'm going a lot deeper than that. I go to this site a lot. People talk about things on this forum that you can't really talk about elsewhere, but even here sometimes people will be a little vague or talk in code words to be extra careful." "What's a forum?" Nathan asked. Juan was surprised by the question. He blinked, then laughed. "You know, usually when I tell people I post on some niche forums, people laugh and say, 'who uses forums anymore'. You're the first person who's ever asked me what a forum is. I don't know how to take that." "You know I'm not a tech person. I don't even have a phone." Nathan said. "It's like...ancient Facebook...sort of. Yeah, we'll leave it at that." Juan logged into his account. He was a little embarrassed to let anyone see his username, not because the name itself was embarrassing but because he worried about anyone seeing what he posted online. Juan only used that name on that forum, and he doubted Nathan would ever figure out how to get there anyway. All anyone would get would be the lyrics for a Selena song. "Basically, this place specializes in conspiracy theories, cover-ups, and paranormal stuff. But there's other weird stuff here too. Some of it really weird. Some of it illegal. All the content is members only." "How did you find this place?" Nathan asked. "I shall not reveal my sources. Anyway, I'm going to do a quick search for posts about Moone & Wolfe, Delilah, or any of that crap. I remember I brought up what happened with Steven a long time ago on a different forum, and I got told I was making up shit. Other than here, I've gotten the same kind of reactions from people. The thread I started didn't go on very long, from what I remember, but there were a few users who thought there was some kind of brainwashing going on in the show at the very least. My thread got deleted for being in the wrong place, but I'm sure I can find other people talking about it here again, because someone linked me to another thread back then. Everything got deleted before I actually got a chance to check out the other thread, and then I ended up getting distracted doing something for my mom." He couldn't remember why he didn't go back and look again. "What's Moone & Wolfe got to do with all this exactly? I thought they were a medical company. Why did that TV interview bring up all this?" Nathan asked. "They owned the TV show too. The guy I saw that day, he said his name was Tom Summerfield. That's who used to own the company. I found that out recently. It's a weird connection. What do you know about them?" Juan said. He didn't know until then that the company had changed hands to the man's sister. Dr. Tom Summerfield was notorious, from what he vaguely remembered from that thread years ago, for not making public appearances. It seemed his sister was not as camera shy. "I looked into them once, when I was looking if anyone offered free mental healthcare around here. They sometimes take people on for free treatment at their research labs, but I didn't meet the qualifications." Nathan said. "So much for helping the community." Juan said, mocking the earlier TV interview. Juan searched for posts mentioning "Moone & Wolfe" on the forum. It pulled up several threads. He clicked on the first one titled 'Any thoughts on Kathy Beaumont and the disappearance of Pam Archer?' and read through it. Nathan read along over his shoulder.
cryptidkiller9001
Anyone got any details about this? My sister's a big fan of Hounding Rain. She made me watch their documentary for one of their tours, and Kathy ("Basset") talks about some group being involved in her girlfriend's disappearance. Does anyone know who that was or what became of that? Was that all bullshit?
longrangeEVP
Never heard about that. I'll have to check that out. What happened exactly?
constantschoolgirl
Kathy again? 100% bullshit. She used that story to sell her first big album and she brings it up every so often because people ask her about it. She's never shown any concrete proof of anything. Pam Archer's supposed parents denied her existence. It's all made up crap.
retrotealdeer
I've been looking into that, from something else I was looking into. Constantschoolgirl has an agenda. She's always in here any time someone brings up the Kathy-Pam situation, M&WC, or the whole Delilah-Tina thing. Hit me up by email. The mods take down most threads about M&WC if you even type out the full company name.
constantschoolgirl
retrotealdeer, everyone knows you're a troll. I'm surprised you haven't been banned yet. You're the one with some weird agenda about Moone & Wolfe.
retrotealdeer
I swear to god you only show up in these threads to shut people up. Are you sure you aren't the troll here?

Juan scratched his head. "Short thread. Hounding Rain, they were originally from around here, weren't they?" Nathan said, "Don't know. I don't know much about them. That's not really my kind of music." "Don't know what the connect between that band and Moone & Wolfe is though. Weird. Let's look at the next thread." Juan clicked on a thread titled 'Moone & Wolfe Corp megathread: Delilah-Tina, Kathy-Pam, Hospitals'. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to look at.

"Damn. What happened here?" Juan took note of the names mentioned. Delilah was there, but he didn't know who Tina referred to. Kathy and Pam were mentioned again, and then hospitals. How did it all relate? Why was the thread locked down? He clicked on the next thread that came up in the search. The thread title was 'Delilah's Daily Dosage of Cult Behavior'. Unlike the other threads he clicked on before, this one wasn't hit by the moderators as hard as the others. He read through it.

Okay, some backstory here. I got these videos from my cousin, A, when I went over to her house last Christmas. We were all hanging out, goofing around, when one of my other cousin's, B, got the idea to explore A's parents' attic. We used to play up there a lot when we were kids, spooking each other out. We went up there, camera in tow, to film our stupid reactions to everything. A started up a story about the attic being haunted and we did some lazy ghost hunting until we got bored. Then, we went to opening boxes. We found broken toys, old clothes, and a ton of squirrel poop everywhere. That was 95% of what we found. We did find something interesting up there though. Some more history. Several years ago, A's younger sister, C, ran away from home. They never found her. She was acting really weird before she left. Her parents assumed she ran off with someone or she was on drugs or something. We ended up finding her old stuff. She left everything behind. Didn't even take an extra pair of clothes. A got really upset when we found the stuff. She hadn't looked at any of that stuff since C ran away. We found some unlabeled VHS tapes in the mix. We all assumed they were family videos of C's. She loved filming things, back when she was acting normal. A wanted to watch them. She wanted to hear C's voice again. What was on those tapes were not family videos. From what I gathered from the tapes, the show was called 'Delilah's Daily Dose' and was some kind of local program aired here in Georgia. I don't know what areas got this show or what channel it ran on, but the filming and script writing is so low budget I can't imagine it aired anywhere outside of the state, if it even reached across the state. I tried looking into it, but I couldn't come up with anything. For reference, A and C lived in Cherokee county when they were really young, then moved to Bartow. A never watched this show, so I can't pinpoint exactly when it aired. The show itself doesn't have any hints about it either, but it had to have been broadcast to one of those counties at least. The protagonist of the show is a character called Delilah Dot who dresses in some little bow peep/doll-looking fashion and she has all these robot animal friends who teach kids 'daily lessons'. There's a really weird art direction going on here. Really unnerving. Most of the episodes have bizarre morals, and during each episode, the bear robot, called Bad Bear, always gets thrown in an oven and cooked up. WTF. I've ripped some of the weirder episodes off the tapes. Watch for yourself. (deleted) (deleted) (deleted) (deleted) (deleted) The more I watch these, the more the writing feels like it's aimed to brainwash the viewer. While I couldn't find anything more about the show, there are some fan sites for it. Here's a few I found: Mod: These links have been removed for violating the board rules. I've been trying to get into the one with a forum but no luck yet. Prior to C running away, A said that she started dressing differently and threw out gifts she got from other people. Her grades in school went up a lot though. She went from all C's to all A's over a semester. But she stopped using her camera, stopped listening to music, and wouldn't watch movies with her family anymore. According to A, she didn't have any friends right before she left, and C seemed to have driven everyone away on purpose. What do you guys think? Am I crazy? Have any of you heard about this show before?

Finally, someone else who knows about this show! I can't believe I found this here. I've been looking everywhere for videos of the show. I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid, but I couldn't really remember what most of the content was like. I was really obsessed with Delilah for a while. Not in a brainwashed kind of way. She really set off my hormones as a kid. Looking back now, I don't get the appeal. Haha, I had some really messed up dreams about Delilah. All I could remember from the show is it being in black and white. Could you upload more of the episodes? I've been on a nostalgia kick lately and I've really wanted to rewatch the series. It's a lot weirder than I remember, but I'm still curious.
bigfhunter
Those robots are actually pretty well made given how shitty everything else in the show is. I'm impressed. I don't really see anything cult-like. Just comes off like your usual, weird kid shows. Not any creepier than Happy World. (Oh god, now the theme song's stuck in my head.) The creator was off his/her rocker though, for sure. No conspiracy or agenda here.
cornusflorida
I've removed the video files. We have a strict policy that videos must be 15 minutes or less. You can reupload the parts you want to highlight.
poodleghoul
Sorry about that! I didn't realize that was a rule... -_-' My bad. I'll get up some short clips soon.
bluebook
Awe damn. I wanted to see the videos. I think I remember this show from when I was a kid. Is this the show that had that giraffe in it?
poodleghoul
Okay here's some clips from the show: (deleted) (deleted) (deleted) (deleted) (deleted) (deleted) (deleted) (deleted) Retro, I'll send the files to your email later. Bluebook, yes! Nanny the Giraffe is one of the robots. She creeps me out the most, TBH.
roshi
Delilah Dot? I swear to god I've seen this woman in a porn before. Hold on. Let me look into that.
greenbean
did someone mention porn
poodleghoul
Can you guys stay on topic? Take that porn talk to the threads were it belongs. Here's some more weird clips I found. (deleted) (deleted) (deleted) (deleted)
roshi
I wasn't joking. I've cut out the *ahem* x-rated parts, but here you go: (deleted) (deleted) (deleted) (deleted) From D.D. in the Dollhouse (1995). The porn's even in b&w, LOL. This is the same chick and shot by the same person. BTW, if you want the full film, PM me.
retrotealdeer
OMG that's totally her. Where did you get this from? Is D.D. in any other films? And no, I'm not interested in her, but I am trying to track down more info on this lady. I can't find shit on "Delilah Dot".
poodleghoul
I'm curious too. I can't find anything on "Delilah Dot" either. The show doesn't have credits that I can find, though I have been able to find some of the staff referencing the show on their websites. Nothing on the main actress.
cloudydays
Miss DD looks a hell of a lot like Tina Tiffany with a dye job.
roshi
Oh shit. You're right. I just looked her up and that's definitely her. My older sister was into her. I'm gonna show her this shit later. It'll really fuck with her.
cloudydays
Wait, that movie's from 1995. Tina Tiffany retired and became a reclusive in 1993. So what? She dropped off the face of the planet at the height of her career to...make amateur porn and star in a local kids show? WTF? What, did she fry her brain with too much coke? Jesus. DON'T DO DRUGS, KIDS.
poodleghoul
This is some weird shit. Not into porn, but roshi, I really want to know if she was in anything else and what D.D.'s real name is.
roshi
This is what I know. D.D. is her stage name. I found these videos on a site which...I shall not be naming or linking to, because reasons. From some "friend" of mine, I learned that these films were made in Georgia, same as your local kid show. Specifically, Rome, GA for both of them. The screenwriter and director was someone who went by Tom Oak, which is another pseudonym. Tom also starred in the films himself as Daddy Doctor. Set design is by Lana Holiday. She doesn't list this on her site, but she's done a lot of porn sets for some really weird shit on the DL. D.D. is definitely Tina. D.D. has a very good singing segment where she sits in a window and sings to the moon. I compared the voices, and it's the same voice. Same voice, same face. Definitely her. But here's the twist--Tina Tiffany is a stage name. Officially, her real name has never been revealed. She just sort of appears in the media abruptly, then abruptly disappears again. Some stuff from a few of the other films: D.D. in the White Room (1995) (deleted) D.D. in the Kitchen (1995) (deleted) D.D. in the Tank (1995) (deleted) D.D. in the Field (1995) (deleted) There's five more, but I'm waiting on someone else to send me the films. The other five are: D.D. in the Forest (1995) D.D. in the Lake (1995) D.D. in the Classroom (1995) D.D. in the Hotel (1996) D.D. in the Underground (1997) Nearly all of the films were made in 1995, except the last two. I don't think I've personally seen the last two either. Rewatching these films, I do see some similarities between Delilah's Daily Dose and the D.D. films. It looks like they used the same character and setting. Why? No clue. My personal thinking, I don't think it's anything cult-related. Just some really weird guy making really weird shit. I think he wanted to sell the kids show to get people to into his own weird ideas. The porn was because...well, why not? And he's weird, so the porn was weird. Delilah's his personal idea of sexy. As you guys who got the vids already know, Oak plays the guy D.D.'s always having sex with, and she's always wearing the same outfit that stays on the whole time. There's definitely a weird storyline going on here.
retrotealdeer
Honestly, all this shit makes me glad the kids show never had any actual kids on it. This Oak guy is clearly nuts.
poodleghoul
Just watched the films you sent, roshi. What the actual fuck. I know you guys don't believe me, but that convinced me even more this shit is a cult. I tried talking to A about this, but it's all bringing up bad memories. She doesn't really want to look any deeper into it. I asked her if I could look through C's stuff again. A let me have some of the boxes. No one on her side of the family likes looking at C's stuff. There's a diary in here. If there's anything interesting, I'll post it here later.
retrotealdeer
I'm pretty curious myself.
roshi
I've got the last five movies. I'm sending them to everyone who already asked for the others. I got something else to send you guys. So, our friend Tom was also a novelist. He wrote a series of books printed through a small publisher. There's also ten in total. Check out the titles. Notice anything? Bridge Gate Hollow The Dollhouse with White Walls All the Good Children in the Forest The Field of Eternity Underneath the Red Lake The Hotel With Hidden Rooms Dutifully Learning Children In the Silver Underground Miss DD's Rules of Perfection Black and White Serenity Nobody Goes to Blackwell Forest Anymore The books definitely have overlapping themes with the porn in their titles. I've read through the first two books. Delilah and the doctor are the protagonists. Pretty sure this dude is into DD/lg stuff, or something creepier. There's several sex scenes, which is hilarious because the books are really anti-sex. Sex is bad! Except when we do it. Okay, lol. Dude has issues. There's a scene in the first book where a couple who fall in love and have sex who get picked a part by birds mid-fuck. These make for some great horror stories, except I think we're supposed to sympathize with the doctor character, who is insane.
retrotealdeer
What the fuck are these books?! I skipped to the Dutifully Learning Children one, thinking it might have some ties to the kids show and holy hell. This guy is sick. There's a scene where a white baby with freckles and red hair gets stamped with "defective" at birth and is carted away into a bakery oven by a lion. What. The. Fuck. Then a black baby with hazel eyes is next in line. The kids show had an oven where they always dumped poor Bad Bear the teddy bear into. Are these who the "Bad Bears" are? And the fuck at keeping kids inside these giant cubbyholes??? What was that shit about?! You're right on Tom being into that little girl look. He spends paragraph after paragraph going on about how child-like and innocent she is and how her bows look and her black Mary Jane's, etc. It's so creepy. He does all that detailing about her looking like that, then boom, graphic sex scene with him in his "doctor" clothes. But then the teenage girl who tries to give her boyfriend a blowjob gets cut in half. A page later. In the same graphic detail. And there was the boy who found porn and got his head smashed in...
roshi
I'd be dead in Tom Oak's universe. You should read All the Good Children in the Forest. That one's the most bizarre one yet. There's even a witch in it! Spooky~.
retrotealdeer
Just finished it now. Wow. He created an origin story for himself and Delilah. I'm going to have to agree with poodle. This dude wants to be a cult leader.
poodleghoul
Hey guys. I've got some things to share with you. I've transcribed C's diary. I've uploaded it as an attachment. roshi, thanks for sending me everything. I'm going to start reading through these books later tonight. Sounds like I'm in for a weird night. (deleted)

I've PM'ed everyone. I really want this information to be online, but I can't post it here. We'll continue our conversations over chat. Anyone else interested in this, check my profile for my contact info. I'm going to start up a website about this. It'll be up on the main Poodle Ghoul Lalapalooza site under the links section and in the links page for my online portfolio. I'll PM everyone the direct link when all that goes live. All of Delilah's Daily Dose will be uploaded and analyzed, along with these movies and books. I haven't had time to read the books yet. That's next on my to do list.

"The fuck keeps happening here?" Nathan asked. "I've seen shit like this here before. Even on places like this, if you put out things too blatantly about the wrong people, it won't go over well. We can't see why it got locked, but if we're lucky maybe this user is still around." Juan said. He clicked on the user poodleghoul's profile. It read:

Juan hadn't interacted with that user before, from what he could remember. He opened up her website in another tab. "Guess we gotta PM her." "What's that?" Nathan asked. "Private message. Here. Watch." Juan wrote her a message asking about Moone & Wolfe and Delilah's Daily Dose. "I'll get a notification if she responds. I wonder if she's still active. I recognize the name from somewhere...Let's check her history." He clicked to see what threads she most recently posted in. Juan read over the titles.

Juan went to the most recent thread. Her last post in it was January 2nd, 2016. "She hasn't been active since January...Hmm..." Juan clicked on the tab he opened up. The website was for a web comic. It appeared to be about a witch and a revived poodle, clearly visually inspired by Frankenstein's monster. He looked around the site. The last news update was from February 18th, 2016. The shop portion of the website, which had no items available, listed reviews from customers. From what he could see, the site owner tended to do batches of orders once a month relatively consistently for at least a full year before all orders appeared to have stopped. The last review was from the fifteenth of February, three days before the last news update. He checked the links page. Juan got a 404 error when he clicked on it. Juan scratched his head. "Dead end. I don't know if she's going to answer us. Looks like she doesn't use any of these accounts anymore." "That Retro guy, he was in more than one of those threads. Maybe we should look at that thread asking about him." Nathan suggested. "The mental hospital thread could be related too. Do you remember what the name of the drug they mentioned on TV was?" "Damn...I forgot what it was. That's not out till next month though, right? That thread's probably not related. We'll start with the thread about this Retro guy." Juan clicked on the thread "whatever happened to retrotealdeer?". It read:

Anyone heard from retro recently? He hasn't been on in a long while.
roshi
Hate to tell you this, but he's dead. Last time I talked to him was last year. We used to email each other pretty regularly, then it all stopped for a while. I got an email from his sister about him being killed in a hunting accident, but she didn't buy it and neither did I. What I've learned over the years is, if you're going to look into something that's actually real, you better be prepared for the consequences or be damn good at covering your tracks.
poodleghoul
I got a similar email. From S, right? I didn't get the impression she thought it was a cover-up from her email.
roshi
Yeah, it was S. I asked a lot of questions and she realized I wasn't going to take the standard bullshit either. Can't tell you anything about it here. I'll shoot you an email later.
azteca
Oh man, really? That's so sad. :( I loved Retro's discussions and I used to spend a lot of time at his website when he updated it regularly. Made me rediscover so many childhood favorites. I'll PM you later. I'm curious about what happened.
"Damn...He's dead." Juan leaned back in his chair. "Sounds like this Roshi guy knows something about it, and it was something...suspicious." Nathan narrowed his eyes. "Let's keep looking. There must be something here." Juan opened up Roshi's profile page in another tab. He closed the one he had open and looked through the one about the mental hospital.
debbieramenhair
A lot of you have been emailing me about where I've been the last five months. I'm finally back. This is a long story, so I'm posting this here for everyone. Five months ago, I was put in a mental hospital against my will. You guys who talk with me outside the forum already know I've been dealing with depression for a few years now. Over the last year, that and my "healthy living" diet changes spiraled into an eating disorder. Six months ago, my therapist suggested I try going to this hospital in Decatur, GA run by Moone & Wolfe Corp for regular out-patient care. She told me she only ever heard of people having great experiences there. She told me they had a really good program there for teenagers dealing with EDs. So, we got an appointment set up. I went in for an evaluation, and within an hour, I was being carted off to somewhere else in the building. They informed me later I wasn't allowed to leave. The doctor determined that I was too much of a danger to myself to be let back out, and that my mom would be informed of me having to stay. For context, I have depression, but my symptoms are on the milder end. It's mostly been effecting my grades and sleeping schedule. And I know I can't completely judge about how bad off I was in regards to anorexia, but I was definitely not in any state as dire as they claimed. My therapist certainly didn't think so, nor did my doctor. She sent me over there for out-patient care, not in-patient! She sent me there because she thought it would be good for me to do in addition to my regular therapy visits, at least at the time. Next thing I know, I'm in this small room with six other girls. There's two "beds" on the floor, if you could call them that. They looked more like the mats we used to do stretches on in PE back in elementary school. I caught a glimpse of some nicer rooms that had real beds in them and were for a single person. I don't know why I was sent to this section of the place. Our sheets were paper thin. They took all my stuff away and made me change into these dirty clothes. The pants I was forced to wear were too big and had what I assume were period stains around the crotch. A lot of the pants I was given were like that. I shared a bed with two of the other girls. One of the girls slept in a chair in our room. They put me on some medication the first day. I wasn't allowed to know what it was. I rarely got to talk to my mom, and only for a few minutes at a time. Two of the girls in my room had been raped by one of the guards. The girl it happened to first told me when she reported what happened, they put her in an isolated room for twenty-four hours, gave her more medication, and told her she hallucinated it all. She didn't have anything that caused hallucinations. The other girl didn't tell any of the staff because she was afraid the same thing would happen to her. Every day, we took our medicine, then were given different tasks to do. They told us it was to help keep us stable. At the end of every week, we had to do a physical examination with all kinds of tests done on us. I had bloodwork done, STI testing, eye exams, dental exams, everything. Every week, they had some kind of test that needed to be done. I didn't consent to any of it, nor did my mother. None of these exams were done in private either. They'd have us all lined up in a room with several doctors and nurses examining 3-10 of us at once. Sometimes, they injected us with things. They told me they were vaccines. I don't know what they were. This isn't some anti-vax thing. I was up to date on all my shots when I came in, including the yearly flu shot. When I say they would tell us they were "vaccines", that's literally all they would say. Not what the name of it was, not what it was for, nothing. I think we were being used to test something, or just being given more drugs. We got injections of some kind about 3-5 times a month. It was just like the pills they gave us. We weren't allowed to ask questions about anything we were given or know the names of anything. When we did therapy sessions, they were nothing like what I did with my regular therapist. It was more like I was on trial. If I didn't answer their questions, I was threatened with punishment in one of those rooms that girl got sent to or that if I didn't cooperate, they would make things worse for everyone in my room. Once, they threatened to take away our two mats if I didn't answer all their weird, invasive questions. My mom finally managed to get me out of there after three months of fighting with the staff. I had no idea three months had even passed. It felt like I was in there for a year, at least. I don't know what happened to the other girls. I've been seeing my regular therapist since then. She couldn't believe what I told her about the place. She actually cried during our first session back together. My therapist and my mom have been looking into what we could do, legally, to that company, but we don't really have a lot of money to do much. So much of my mom's money already goes to my health. The cherry on top? They sent my mom a massive bill for my three month stay. She's not paying a dime on it. Over those three months, I lost twenty pounds when I came in already underweight. I've gained back eight of those. I've been getting treatment at a different place for my ED, one closer to my home. My mom goes with me every visit. I'm still processing everything. I can't believe you guys were all checking in on me all this time. I read every one of your emails, but I haven't been able to reply to them all. I don't have very many friends IRL. When I first got out, I thought about killing myself, because I felt so violated and alone. But you guys were still here. I missed you all, and hopefully, I won't be disappearing again any time soon.
hannahbanana
OMG Deb, I can't believe all that happened to you. I am so sorry! And glad you are finally somewhere safe! I don't have much, but I could send you a little money to help towards getting a lawyer or anything else you guys need. I've heard stories like this before, around here and other places, but they've always been reports or second-hand stories. I always assumed these were really one-off instances that mostly happened a long time ago. You can always talk to me on chat or email, and you have my phone number.
miraclekoi
Debbie, that's so awful. I know some lawyers who might be able to help you. I'll send you that info later. I hope you're okay now. :(

I've never talked about this before, but something similar to this happened to me when I was in high school. This was in 9th grade, second semester. I'm in my senior year of college now, to give you an idea how long ago this was. I went to one of those Moone & Wolfe hospitals too, but this location was in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. My family originally lived up north, but we moved to the south for the cheap housing. Haha, yeah, there's a good reason its cheap in the south. Anyway, I never really adjusted to living down in the south. In seventh grade, things got really bad. I got suspended for the latter half of the year. The following year, my mom withdrew me from public school and started homeschooling me. I only ended up worse and more depressed. So, my parents tried a lot of things. They sent me to a Christian camp to "reform" delinquents. That was hell. It was basically boot camp, but with lots of mental torture and singing songs about Jesus. That's its own story. Oh, the things I could tell you about what people get away with in regards to children under the guise of "freedom of religion". But I'm sure some of you here know a lot about that. Anyway, next was drugs. Lots of different drugs. None of them worked out. They forced me to be on a local soccer team. I despised that, and everyone there. I've always hated soccer. Next was cheerleading. I got kicked out right away. At some point, I begged my mom to let me move in with my grandma, who still lived in our old neighborhood, but they wouldn't let me. The last option was the hospital. Unlike with Debbie, the point was to get in-patient treatment. We didn't have all those tests done at the hospital I went to, but we did get lots of shots and meds. Some of the shots were just to sedate us. I don't think there was a single patient in the building who wasn't on at least one drug. For my behavior problems, I was strapped to a bed several times. This bed was nicer than the bed they usually had us sleep on, and yeah, we had the same bed problem. There were a select few rooms with real beds, but most of the rooms had these mat-like "beds" to sleep on, and there were never enough of them. A lot of people slept on the floor, in and outside the bedrooms. I got beat by the guards a few times, and staff didn't give a fuck about being seen slapping, pulling, or grabbing patients. The only time they were nice to us was when people came to tour the building. The worst of it was the isolation room. The longest I heard anyone got left in there was a full week. The only contact you get in there is when they give you food. They don't say anything to you when they do it. The food's just shoved in and all you can hear is someone walking away. If you scream, no one comes. You throw yourself against the door, no one. No one cares what you do while you're in there. I got put in there for three days once. It felt like so much longer. If the other girls didn't tell me it was three, I wouldn't have believed it. I snuck into the room where they store all the meds at once and tried to kill myself. Turns out trying to kill yourself by ODing is actually not that easy. I was on the ground for hours, puking and writhing in agony. They found me in the morning, pumped by stomach, and put me under suicide watch for three days. The second time I tried to hang myself, but the sheets they gave us weren't strong enough to hold up a person like that, and turns out, neither were our clothes. I tried tying them together, but the pant leg ripped when I jumped. I don't remember what happened immediately after that. I heard from the other girls they gave me a ton of drugs and I was walking around like a zombie for at least a week. I was finally let out after six months, when my parents got fed up with paying for my expensive "treatments". I know it's standard in America for doctors to charge for literally anything they can, but they really went above and beyond finding little things to charge for. Every injection, every meal, every pill, the clothes I was forced to wear, the paper we did our school assignments on, everything. All of it was neatly itemized with a ridiculous price tag on it. They charged my parents, in total, over $660 for paper and pencils. They didn't even let me keep any of those and they weren't new. They came out of this room with a bunch of school supplies in it. Some of our paper had writing on the back side of it! This was a charge for usage of paper and pencils, not for buying new ones. Rental fees, just like the nasty clothes I got put in. I was lucky that mine weren't stained, but most of the pants I wore had holes in them, typically somewhere that made it easy for someone to see my underwear. My parents didn't believe me about all the stuff that happened in there. I was going to jump in front of a train after all that happened. On my way to the tracks, this guy who was jogging saw me lingering near the tracks and asked if I was okay. He was a bit of a weird looking guy. Dressed in all black, long sleeves in the middle of Alabama summer heat and had his pet black cat on a leash. An out of place, old goth, I guess. Definitely a weirdo. He was a nice guy though. He talked me out of it and convinced me to enroll back in public school. I did, and got put in a special program because of everything that happened to help me have better odds of getting into a university. I spent all my time studying. I joined several clubs, did a bunch of volunteer work, got part-time jobs here and there. I did anything I could to look good for the colleges, so I could go to one out of state and get the hell away from that entire area. I'm finishing up a bachelor's right now at NYU, and I have every intention of living here and never going back there. My parents still live in Tuscaloosa. I don't know how they can stand to drive past that building, but to them, that place was nothing more than a money-sink. They don't know the hell that happened behind those walls. If anyone wants to talk about this sort of thing, PM me.

I worked for this company for a while when I was an undergrad. Never saw anything like this, but I didn't work at any of the locations mentioned. It might vary by location, and that's why Debbie's therapist gave a glowing recommendation. They really do a lot of good work with teenagers, but there a ton of hospitals and facilities they run at this point. There's bound to be a little mismanagement at some of them. I think these are isolated incidents and don't reflect the company as a whole. I would recommend everyone in this thread to try and contact the head of the company instead of targeting the heads of these individual locations. More might be done about it, and it's likely no one at the top knows this stuff is going on. A lot of abuse can happen in places like this that goes unnoticed because the victims talk to the wrong people. They really are a great company.
josiemccat
SUN IS FULL OF IT. CHECK HER POST HISTORY. SHE'S A GODDAMN WALMART EMPLOYEE WHO'S FRESH OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL. SHE'S NEVER FUCKING WORKED AT A MENTAL HOSPITAL AND SHE'S NEVER BEEN TO COLLEGE. FFS. QUIT LYING.
hannahbanana
Oooh, that isn't the only shady thing in Sun's post history. According to her info, her account is about as old as the site itself, yet she's just turned eighteen this year. Um, excuse me? Who are you really, Sun? Why are you shilling for a company you don't work for in a thread about victims of abuse by this company? Are you even real or are you a corporate plant?
sun
Look, we all lie about parts of ourselves on the internet. Who's dumb enough to post their real age online? I've said I'm eighteen before to throw off people from guessing my real identity. That's all. Clearly, if I'm not eighteen, you should assume my story about working at Walmart straight out of high school is also fake.
josiemccat
In a thread about things you totally saw happen at Walmart that customers don't know about? That's where you thought to lie. You have several stories in that thread, many of them with photos. If you're lying about all that, why should we believe you actually worked at Moone & Wolfe? Where's the proof of that?
sun
Oh, please. Everyone knows all the stories in that Walmart thread are FAKE. That's the point. None of the retail threads have anything real in them, just like EVERYTHING on the supernatural board. It's for fun. I don't have to prove my credentials to you online. Do you have any idea where you are?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you deserved that, White Rabbit. Since I actually HAVE worked in a place like that, I know how a lot of the crazies who come out like to spin just about any help as "abuse". I'd be willing to bet that your solitary confinement was completely justified. We almost never used that at the hospital I worked at. Only the worst of people got it, people who were dangerous to OTHER people. People like you are why good people like us have such a hard time convincing the general public we're not crazy abusive prison guards or quacks. How about you quit lying? This isn't the 1960s. This shit doesn't happen anymore. You guys are making up shit to get attention online, same as me in my Walmart story posts. The difference is when it comes to medical professionals, who rely heavily on the general public perceiving them as having their best interest in mind, having false stories like this and other hurtful accusations greatly damages us far more than shit-tier companies like Walmart or Ingles. We take an OATH to not hurt people, and our reward is dealing with people like YOU. You have no idea how hard we struggle to help such ungrateful POS like you and Debbie dumbfuck up thread. Of course they kept Debbie. She's got an eating disorder, and patients with EDs will lie through their teeth about everything to get out of taking responsibility for their own shitty behavior.
josiemccat
Damn, look at Sun over here getting a blackout on Shitty Doctor Bingo. Oh boy, where do I even begin with this shit? I could spend my time going point by point why you're a jackass, but instead I'll link to these threads with more information about you. Here's one where you claim you're a 50 year old man back in 2002 who used to work in the Air Force. But you were also a woman who was born in 1992 who used to see ghosts everywhere you went and had to quit several jobs because of this. You're nonbinary and 15 in 2014. Your mom works for the CIA, huh? But then you were a gay man, age 25 here, who doesn't believe in that identity at all. Now you work at FEMA and your mom is dead. These posts are from the same year. Though a few years before that you were a 40 year old, homophobic pastor. You were black for the first and only time that I can find here, whereas you seem to identify yourself as white in all other versions of you. Back to female here, 17 in 2006 and bisexual. You were planning on going to college in Hawaii and studying volcanoes. You had a part-time job at Ingles then, but your post above makes it clear that was never true. Here's a thread where you were a Republican in Texas one month. Then a Democrat in California the following month. Then you were never a US citizen at all. You're from Canada now, born in 1985, male, working in a nursing home. And of course, there's also the time you were an Australian woman, born in 1988, who graduated college with a degree in lit who was a stay-at-home mom with two kids and a physicist for a husband. But if we dig deep enough, you originally claimed you were a married man born in 1969, working for a publishing house in Atlanta, Georgia. You've had quite the identity crisis over the years. So tell me again, Sun, who are you?

Juan and Nathan stared at the last post. Nathan shook his head. "Do people always talk like this online?" "That was pretty civil, actually." Juan sighed. "Another shut down thread. Most of the content's gone." "What do you think that Sun person's goal was?" Nathan asked. "Looks like they were there to cover for the company." Juan said. "This isn't a website that's exactly easy to find. The fact that this account has been here from the start...is creepy. Like they knew they were up to some shit, and were already planting people wherever they could to shut people up about them. Wouldn't surprise me though. For really dark shit, that's pretty much what you should expect. But even here...I don't think it used to be this bad before. I don't know what was deleted, but you can get away with talking about some pretty out there stuff here normally." "I know it's fucked up, but none of that sounded out of the ordinary for most abusive medical places. Would something like that really need to be so thoroughly covered up?" Nathan asked. "No, not to this degree. Which tells me this is only the surface. There's much worse than that." Juan crossed his arms. "Given what what we read in the other threads...they've got the hospitals running, this cult TV show, the books, and something to do with Tina Tiffany. That Tom Summerfield guy shouldn't be left alone with children under any context, for sure. And Retro was likely murdered. We really need to see these tapes, but this mod, Cornus Florida, sure seems to love deleting anything worth looking at." "Yeah, they seem to be in on it too." Nathan said. "What does that person's profile say?" Juan clicked on the mod's username.

Posts: 3078 Threads Started: 2 Member Since: 1998 Bio: I clean up threads and gardens. The most beautiful flower is one blossoming, halfway between bud and full bloom. When I'm not cleaning up threads, I'm capturing flowers on film and in pages. My hobbies include collecting books of pressed flowers, photography, filmmaking, making variations on sweet tea, and going to cherry blossom viewings in my current home, Georgia.
Nathan raised an eyebrow. "Georgia, huh? Wait, we have cherry blossom viewings here?" "Yeah. I went to one once with Alex's family in middle school. He wanted to get some pictures of the flowers. I wanted the food they were paying for." Juan said. "Let's see...most recent threads..."

"Doesn't really look out of the ordinary to me." Nathan said. "Yeah...but I didn't think there was content like this on the forum. There's a board for history and preserving old books and documents, but...flowers?" Juan scratched his chin. "Nah, that's gotta be a code word for something else." "What makes you think that?" Nathan asked. "It's just too ordinary. Why come here if you were going to talk about something you can talk about anywhere? Hmm...illegal plants maybe? Are the flowers a code for some kind of drugs? We'll look into that later." Juan left the user's profile open in a tab and looked at one of the other threads Poodle Ghoul posted in. His gut told him to click on the offsite collection one. He recalled the user mentioning in the other thread about posting things off the site and wondered if the title was a coded hint about the content to avoid detection by the mods. The thread was locked down, with the content of every post removed. He made note of the usernames present. Poodle Ghoul was there, as the one who started the thread and made most of the posts. Retro was there and Roshi. Josie and White Rabbit were there too. He opened up their profiles to look through. There were a few other users in the thread, but only contributed a post or two. Like before, the thread was locked down by Cornus Florida. "Damn." Nathan sighed. "They really don't want whatever was here out." Juan blinked. He hadn't seen anything like this in a long time, but he had seen it before when looking into something back in middle school with Alex. The name escaped him. He doubted Alex would still remember either. "Well, onto the next one." "You sure you want to keep looking?" Nathan asked. "We could be here who knows how long going from person to person." "Yeah, but I kinda like going down rabbit holes." Juan laughed and shrugged. "Besides, I really want to know more about this company. They're advertising on our local news. I want to know what they're about." Nathan shrugged. Juan clicked on White Rabbit's profile first.

"I could do a more thorough check to look for all these users posts...then again, if it's like the other threads...I may not find anything actually useful. I'll send Josie a message." Juan typed up a quick message to send to Josie. He considered sending one to White Rabbit, but the user annoyed him and he didn't feel like it. He clicked over to the tab with Roshi's profile. Juan saw that the offsite upload thread that had been locked was there. He didn't see anything else related to Moone & Wolfe, but Roshi also had two threads about cults. He sent Roshi a message saying:
Hey roshi, To answer your question, definitely neither. I was searching for something and I was wondering if you knew anything more about what was going on in threads related to Moone & Wolfe Corp and what happened to retrotealdeer. Sorry if this is out of nowhere. I'm trying to look into something. -amorprohibido
He hoped at least one of the three people he messaged would respond, but he doubted they would. Lately, this forum was much less active than it was years ago when he first joined it. A lot of people vanished here and there without a word. He assumed most of them got bored of the site and went elsewhere, or lost interest in the topics commonly discussed. A lot of people, ironically, left when Facebook and Twitter became popular, despite the forum generally having a very privacy-focused interest. Some users only came on now and then to check up on things. He used to lurk a lot in middle school, when he would read through long threads with Alex late into the night. Alex grew bored of it easily, only interested in the ghost and monster videos posted because he treated them like short horror films. Even then, years back, the site was already past its prime. Juan himself found that as time went on, the internet as a whole was mostly boring. He didn't have any social media accounts. Only Alex and Eric regularly emailed him, and at this point, they texted far more often. Forums he used to frequent died off, either going dead from lack of activity or going down altogether. Lately, most of his time online was spent looking at maps and reviews or for paranormal videos on YouTube. He had to admit, Alex was right that those were all very clearly fake. He found more interesting stuff when he was in sixth grade than now. Juan sighed. He returned to Cornus Florida's profile to look into the threads she posted in. He was curious what all the talk about flowers was really about. He clicked on the thread "ethics debate--flower collecting". "Are we really going through the flower threads? That sounded unrelated." Nathan said. "It probably is, but I wanna know what it's about." Juan said as he waited for his computer to load the page. The internet disconnected for a moment while it was loading. As he waited on the page to load, he noticed what board the post was in. It was in the "Eclectic Interests" board. He rarely looked at threads on that part of the forum. It covered anything from grotesque porn and other disgusting things to discussions of taboo subjects and highly illegal activities. His heart stopped, unsure what to anticipate. The page finally loaded. The first image on the first post made Juan's stomach turn. Nathan's eyes widened. The image was of a pile of organs laid out on a table. Blood soaked through the checkered patterned table cloth underneath. Nathan looked away and lit a cigarette. "I take it that's human, right?" Juan swallowed hard. "I don't want it to be." "So, is this bitch a cannibal?" Nathan asked. "I don't know. People do all kinds of weird shit with body parts." Juan scrolled to read through the thread.

Hey guys. These are some of my recent additions to my collection. I've decided I'm going to eat the middle one, but the rest were preserved with the others. I was thinking, you know, I'm a pretty open-minded guy, but I have some limits. No buds, no digging in fenced gardens. Simple rules. What about you guys? Where do you draw the line in your flower collections?
cornusflorida
No unopened buds, no full blossoms. Mostly legal channels. But you all know I'm a specialized collector. I specialize in Easter lilies, regal lilies, and Lady Alice lilies exclusively pressed before fully blossoming. I got a new edition recently, full plant, donated for botany research. Wasn't hard to purchase at all. And I certainly don't eat them. Flowers are good for a tea bath every now and then though. It gives my skin a nice glow.
snarkmemories
I will never understand your obsession with white lilies. How about casablanca?
cornusflorida
Oh, I do have a few of those in my collection, but those are very hard to come by. Most I find have had their petals artificially dyed. I'm not interested in flowers like that.
nooneisdriving
Roses are where it's at. You can keep all the lilies. Every color is perfect, at every stage. Personally, I prefer only the actual flower part. I have no interest in the stem or leaves. Ethics? I say collect in whatever way you fancy. The world is your garden, if you're sneaky enough. Oh, and it helps to be involved in research. You can get away with so much.
cornusflorida
*shakes head* Roses are bland. Everyone wants to collect roses. And I'd watch it. No one is ever as sneaky as they think they are. It's better to acquire them through the easy routes than do anything risky.
nooneisdriving
Risky? You can pay off hotel staff for houseplants in any window you want. They'll give you a card and you can take what you want. So long as you leave behind whatever you don't want in an interesting way, the guard dog will write up their own story about how the flower got there so they don't have to do any work. Investigations are expensive, you know?
ribbonsandchickens
No rules when you're not a collector. I have my prize flower, my night rider lily houseplant. Hated it so much until it suddenly started to droop. I gave it some fertilizer, told them I was going to do a showing at home and never transferred it into any fenced garden. The lily looks so much better in my storage room in the basement.
nooneisdriving
What kind of fertilizer did you use? The standard?
ribbonsandchickens
Yep. Guard dogs never notice it.
snarkmemories
What about salads? How do you all feel about making salads? I don't do it often, unless its something really special.
nooneisdriving
I'm only interested in the flower part itself. I certainly wouldn't eat that. I want it perfectly intact.
riverbud
I mostly make salads, unless someone's already preserved it. Those go in my collection at work. Leaves and stems for salads I get from various places. I never prune myself, not like nooneisdriving does. Too chicken for that. I'd worry too much about ruining it. I've found some nice people here, nooneisdriving included, who've helped me make some very good salads. Personally, I find the stem to be the tastiest.
beebusy
I don't eat salads. I limit my collection to Molineux blossoms. I like all parts, but only if the flower part is still attached. I've done all my collecting in unfenced gardens. Preserving them is already really expensive. I don't have the money to go through the more legal channels. Personally, I think it's better if they end up in my collection than in an unfenced garden where they'll be forgotten and go unappreciated. I've gone on trips to unfenced gardens with students before. They were collecting practice material for classes. I joined in and they never knew I wasn't a student. I've learned the schedule of when the gardeners plant them to maximize my chances of getting something really nice. I dress them up at home if I can preserve them really good. I keep those out on display in the basement. A few of my friends know about them. They think roses are pretty, but that it's kind of creepy.
cornusflorida
I've seen your preservations in another thread. You do a really good job at it! Have you considered making it a career?
beebusy
I've thought about it, but I'm not really interested in preserving flowers outside my interests.
butt
If I did collect, I'd do it legally, but I'm too broke for that. Even then, if I had the money, I don't know if I'd have the courage to make a purchase. I spend all my time admiring the photos you guys post and reading your stories, but I can't get myself to go out there and collect anything. I'm so terrified I'll get caught, and I know I'd mess up preserving them. I thought about saving up to buy some already nicely preserved and arranged--you know, by a professional and not lazily bagged like what you'd typically get legally, but I don't know. I can't do it.
nooneisdriving
It's really not a big deal. I could give you some pointers on how to go about it. I've been doing this for a solid ten years now and no one has ever suspected me. The first few times, I was scared out of my mind, but once I got good at being fast and picking good locations, it's really easy.
butt
I could never be that brave! I'll stay here dreaming of the collection I'll never have.
cornusflorida
What kind of flowers are you interested in? I have access to a lot of flowers through work. I might be able to get you something.
butt
Well...Rosa mundi are my favorite roses. I think they're prettiest once they've just fully bloomed. I don't know if you'd be able to find any of those or how you'd transport that or anything.
cornusflorida
Oh, those aren't too hard to come by. Actually, I think I already know which building would be best to check at. Do you want them to use in salads or for display only?
butt
I...I don't think I'm ready to try salads or teas! I'd want one for display...uh...whole, if possible.
cornusflorida
Any other intended uses?
butt
Absolutely not!
cornusflorida
Well, you're in luck. We had a couple at work that are set to go to unfenced gardens. I've had them set aside for now and I'll send you some photos of them so you can pick one you like.
butt
I can't believe this. They're all so beautiful. They were really going to an unfenced garden??! I thought you all were just really lucky when you found really pretty ones to post. Are pretty ones like those really common?
nooneisdriving
Heh. Welcome to collecting. You will soon find you cannot have enough of them.
beebusy
You'll find a lot of pretty ones in unfenced gardens. Now, how much you can work with will depend on if you time it right. If you're going to transplant and preserve them, you can't wait too long.
snarkmemories
Welcome, butt. Enjoy your collecting. You should try salads at some point though. They're really good.
Juan reached the end of the thread. He closed out his browser and shut his computer off. "Well, that's enough internet for today." "Should we report what we saw?" Nathan asked. "I doubt cops will do anything about it. There's a high likelihood half, if not all, of those people aren't really doing any of what they're saying they're doing. A lot of people post stuff like that to trick people into thinking its real. Some of them may be investigating themselves and pretending to be doing those things to sort out who is real." Juan rubbed his eyes. "Trust me. If any of that was real, the people who need to know about that already do. Their code words won't protect them if they're posting pictures too." "Yeah, but it doesn't really sit right with me to not tell someone about that." Nathan said. "Is that kind of stuff allowed to be posted on that forum?" "Having it removed might make things more difficult for anyone investigating, if any of it was real." Juan said. "Technically, some of what they were talking about isn't even illegal, just really disgusting. I do know some organizations I could report to, if it'd ease your mind." "Yeah, I think you should. I didn't really get what all their code words were supposed to mean, but at least one of those users sounded like they're murdering people." Nathan said. Juan took out his phone. He used to report content like that more when he was younger, but nothing ever came of it. At least, from what he saw. He hadn't reported anything in a while now, in part because he wasn't messing around on that part of the internet as much. The rest was from apathy. How quickly he became desensitized to content like that disturbed him. He submitted the information to a few organizations. Juan went over to the couch. "Well, so much for that." Juan sighed. "If we're lucky, one of the people I messaged might send me something. I don't know if I want to look any deeper right now." "Doesn't look like we can." Nathan said. He lit another cigarette. "Think I'll head to bed after I finish this." "Right. It's getting late, huh?" Juan said. He stretched and went to get ready for bed. When the lights were out, and Nathan was long already asleep, Juan stared up at the ceiling. Every sound caught his attention. The noise the old ceiling fan made drove him crazy. Juan got up to turn it off. When he got up, he noticed the window curtain was pulled back. Juan went to close it shut. As he got close to the window, he noticed it was brighter outside than usual. Juan stared up at the sky to see if there was a full moon. Clouds hid it from his sight. He heard something creaking to his left, by the back door. Juan turned to see what it was. The door knob turned. Slowly, the back door opened. A hand pushed the door all the way open. Juan looked up to see who was there. He blinked, and then he was outside in the backyard. Red rain soaked through his clothes and ate away at his skin. He felt himself melting away into the grass and clay beneath him. Juan screamed loudly. His voice was lost in the sound of another screaming, a painful voice booming across the sky from beside him. Its voice reverberated through his body. Juan looked over to see a giant jaguar's head raised out of a large hole in the ground. It bore its fangs at the sky as it cried in agony. Lightning struck between them, breaking away more of the hole. The jaguar clawed at the dirt to make the hole bigger. Juan, unable to move, watched the beast struggle while the rain burned away its fur. In its eyes, he saw his mother's face, and then his grandmother's. The face kept changing, but always felt familiar in some way. Juan reached over to the beast in the hill with what little remained of his left arm. It broke away before he could touch its fur. The bone hit against the ground. Stained with rain and clay, it soaked up the pain and writhed around until its form changed to that of a snake. The white and red snake slithered over toward the jaguar but couldn't reach it. Lightning destroyed it first. The jaguar pushed through one of its front paws to the surface. Little fur or skin remained on its head by then. He and the beast both sunk away, deep down into the red clay. Juan woke in his bed covered in sweat. He looked over at the curtain and the back door. Both were closed and the back door was locked. Nothing around the room looked any different. Juan hoped what he saw last night was all a very long dream.
